We’re putting an end to the myth
feeding disorders are real!
We know it’s not picky eating and we’re here to help.

It’s Not Picky Eating is an initiative of Feeding Matters, in collaboration with ARFID Awareness, to bring greater understanding and visibility to feeding disorders and differences. Since 2006, Feeding Matters has been the driving force behind notable improvements to the system of care for PFD as well as the PFD & ARFID Consensus Papers, Defining the Diagnostic Criteria and Psychological Interventions.
It’s Not Picky Eating was created to offer support, resources, and a sense of community for parents, caregivers, and adults navigating feeding differences.
We see how hard it is
you’re not alone

ARFID Awareness
Meet Hannah. Hannah is an 8 year-old girl who has an eating disorder called ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder).
ARFID is a fairly new diagnosis in the DSM-V, and there is limited information available. It was a big challenge to find resources and support. Hannah has always loved to be on camera, so Hannah and her mom started documenting her journey through social media as a way to motivate her to try new foods.
Since starting this ARFID journey, Hannah has made incredible strides and has been an inspiration for many others. She has used her voice to share her journey and spread awareness. Hannah has built a community for those with ARFID, and her hope is to help others just like her.
In 2024, Hannah’s mom Michelle founded the ARFID Awareness nonprofit. In pursuing advocacy and awareness for all with feeding disorders and differences, ARFID Awareness partnered with Feeding Matters to grow efforts to support early identification for children and support for families.
